കോട്ടോറാന്‍ പോക്കര്‍  എന്ന  വഴിവാണിഭക്കാരുടെ രക്ഷകന്‍

ഈയടുത്ത കാലം വരെയും  മുംബൈയിലെ വഴിയോര കച്ചവടക്കാരില്‍ ഭൂരിപക്ഷവും മലയാളികളായിരുന്നു. എണ്ണം കുറഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കിലും   വഴിവാണിഭക്കാരുടെ ഇടയില്‍ ഇന്നും മലയാളികള്‍ക്ക് നിര്‍ണായകമായ സ്ഥാനമുണ്ട്.   അക്ഷരാര്‍ത്ഥത്തില്‍ വഴിവാണിഭക്കാരുടെ ദൈവദൂതനായിരുന്നു സെപ്റ്റംബര്‍ 28 -നു നിര്യാതനായ കോട്ടോറാന്‍ പോക്കര്‍.

ഉത്തരമലബാറില്‍ നിന്നുള്ള വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം കുറഞ്ഞ സാധുക്കളും നിര്‍മലമനസ്കരും അദ്ധ്വാനികളും ആയ മുസ്ലീംസഹോദരുടെ കുത്തക തന്നെയായിരുന്നു ഒരുകാലത്ത്  വഴിയോരക്കച്ചവടം. അക്കാലത്ത് മുംബൈ മുന്‍സിപാലിറ്റി ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരും   മണ്ണിന്ടെ മക്കള്‍ വാദം   ഉന്നയിക്കുന്ന ശിവസേന തുടങ്ങിയ രാഷ്ട്രീയകഷികളുടെ മറവില്‍ വിലസുന്ന കുട്ടിനേതാക്കളും സില്‍ബന്ധികളും  വഴിയോരക്കച്ചവടക്കാരെ നിരന്തരം സമൃദ്ധമായി ചൂഷണം ചെയ്യുകയും കൊള്ളയടിക്കുകകയും ചെയ്തിരുന്നു. 

ആ കാലഘട്ടത്തിലാണ് നാട്ടില്‍ നിന്നെത്തി വഴിവാണിഭക്കാരനായി ജീവിതം തുടങ്ങിയ പോക്കര്‍ .അധികാരികളുടെയും കുട്ടിനേതാക്കളുടെയും ചൂഷണങ്ങളില്‍നിന്ന് വഴിവാണിഭക്കാരെ രക്ഷിക്കാനായി മാര്‍ഗങ്ങള്‍ ആരാഞ്ഞത്. വഴിവാണിഭക്കാരുടെ  ജീവിതത്തിന്ടെ അല്ലലും ആവലാതിയും നേര്‍ക്കാഴ്ചകളും അനുഭവിച്ചറിഞ്ഞ പോക്കര്‍ വളരെ പെട്ടെന്ന് തന്നെ  അവര്‍ക്ക് ആശ്വാസവും അത്താണിയുമായി മാറി. 

മൂന്നരപതിറ്റാണ്ട് മുന്പ്  നന്നേ ചെറുപ്പത്തില്‍  ഫോര്‍ട്ടില്‍ വഴിവാണിഭക്കാരനായി ജീവിതം തുടങ്ങിയ  കോട്ടോറാന്‍ പോക്കര്‍ മറ്റു വഴിവാണിഭക്കാരുടെ പ്രയാസങ്ങളിലും ജീവിതസമസ്യകളിലും സജീവമായി ഇടപെട്ടുകൊണ്ടായിരുന്നു തുടക്കം.  അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്ടെ ആത്മാര്‍ത്ഥതയും  നിസ്വാര്‍ത്ഥസേവനതല്‍പരതയും ചുറുചുറുക്കും ഹൃദ്യമായി സംസാരിക്കാനുള്ള കഴിവും  സഹവഴിവാണിഭക്കാരുടെ   ആദരവും വിശ്വസ്തതയും നേടിയെടുത്തു.  അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്ടെ സുഹൃത്‌വലയം വിപുലമായി. , ഏതുസമയത്തും സമീപിക്കാവുന്ന  സുഹൃത്ത്‌ എന്ന നിലയിലും  എല്ലാവരുടേയും   സഹായി എന്ന നിലയിലും പോക്കര്‍ അറിയപ്പെട്ടു  തുടങ്ങി. അങ്ങിനെ അദ്ദേഹം  സുഹൃത്തുക്കളുടെ പോക്കറിക്കയും, പോക്കര്‍ സാഹിബും  ഒക്കെ ആയി മാറി. 

അധികം പഠിചിട്ടില്ലെങ്കിലും  സ്വപ്രയത്നം കൊണ്ട് ഇംഗ്ലീഷ്ഭാഷ അനര്‍ഗളമായി സംസാരിക്കാനും  തെറ്റില്ലാതെ കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്യാനും ഉള്ള പ്രാവിണ്യം ഇക്കാലത്ത്  കോട്ടോറാന്‍ പോക്കര്‍ നേടി. തന്മൂലം വഴിവാണിഭക്കാരുടെ എല്ലാ കാര്യത്തിലും ഇടപെടാനും അവരുടെ വക്താവായി മറ്റുള്ളവരോട് സംസാരിക്കാനും പോക്കര്‍ക്ക് അവസരങ്ങള്‍ വന്നു ചെര്‍ന്നുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു. ക്രമേണ അദ്ദേഹം വഴിവാണിഭക്കാരുടെ അനിഷേദ്ധ്യ നേതാവായി വളര്‍ന്നു.

വഴിവാണിഭക്കാരെ നിയന്ത്രിക്കാനും ഒഴിവാക്കാനുമായി ലക്ഷ്യമിട്ട്  പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്ന മുനിസിപ്പല്‍ കോര്‍പറേഷന്‍ കീഴിലുള്ള ആന്റി ഹാക്കെര്സ് വിഭാഗം വക വണ്ടികള്‍ തലങ്ങും വിലങ്ങും ചീറിപ്പാഞ്ഞു വന്നു വഴിവാണിഭക്കാരുടെ കടകള്‍ തട്ടിമറിച്ചു കയ്യില്‍ കിട്ടിയ വിലകൂടിയതും അല്ലാത്തതുമായ  സാധനങ്ങള്‍ വാരിവലിച്ചു വണ്ടിയിലിട്ടു കൊണ്ടുപോകുക എന്നത് നേരത്തെ പതിവ് പരിപാടിയായിരുന്നു.  ലൈസന്‍സ് ഉള്ളവരേയും ലൈസന്‍സ് ഇല്ലെന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അധികാരികള്‍ പീഡിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഈ അവസരത്തിലാണ് വഴിവാണിഭക്കാര്‍ക്ക് ഒരു സംഘടന എന്ന ആശയം കോട്ടോറാന്‍ പോക്കരിന്ടെ  മനസ്സില്‍ ഉദിക്കുന്നത്. അങ്ങിനെ അദ്ദേഹം സഹവഴിവാണിഭക്കാരേയും കൂട്ടി    ബോംബെ  ഹാക്കെര്സ് അസോസിയേഷന്‍   സ്ഥാപിച്ചു. ആരംഭം മുതല്‍  സെപ്റ്റംബര്‍ 28 -നു മരിക്കുന്നത് വരെ അദ്ദേഹം അതിന്ടെ സെക്രട്ടറിയായിരുന്നു. 

അസോസിയേഷന്‍ രൂപികരിച്ചതിനു ശേഷം വഴിവാണിഭത്തോട് സലാം പറഞ്ഞു മുഴുസമയ തൊഴിലാളി നേതാവായി മാറി. ഫോര്‍ട്ട്‌, ഫൌണ്ടന്‍, കൊളാബ, ഫാഷന്‍ സ്ട്രീറ്റ്,ചര്‍ച്ച്ഗേറ്റ്,  കല്‍ബാദേവി,അബ്ദുല്‍ റഹ്മാന്‍ സ്ട്രീറ്റ്,  ഗ്രാന്റ് റോഡ്‌, മുംബൈ സെന്‍ട്രല്‍, എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലുള്ള 700 -ലേറെ വഴിവാണിഭക്കാര്‍  അംഗങ്ങളായ ശക്തമായ സംഘടനയാണ് ഇപ്പോള്‍ മുംബൈ  ഹാക്കെര്സ് അസോസിയേഷന്‍.

കോട്ടോറാന്‍ പോക്കര്‍  മുംബൈയിലെ  വഴിവാണിഭക്കാരുടെ അന്തസ്സും അഭിമാനവും ഉയര്‍ത്തിയ മനുഷ്യസ്നേഹിയായ തൊഴിലാളി നേതാവാണ്‌. .    ഉയര്‍ന്ന വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം നേടാന്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ലെങ്കിലും ഭംഗിയായി  ഇംഗ്ലീഷ്  കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്യാനും പറഞ്ഞുകൊടുത്തു കത്തുകളും നിയമവശങ്ങള്‍  വിശദമായി അക്കമിട്ടു നിരത്തി നോട്ടുകളും  തയ്യാറാക്കാനും അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു വൈദഗ്ദ്ധ്യം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. ഇക്കാര്യം ഞാന്‍ നേരില്‍ കണ്ടിട്ടുള്ളതാണ്.

കോട്ടോറാന്‍ പോക്കര്‍ എന്ന     വഴിവാണിഭത്തൊഴിലാളി  നേതാവിനെ എനിക്ക് പരിചയപ്പെടുത്തി തന്നത് കെ.വി. ശിവദാസന്‍ എന്ന കെ.വി. എസ്. നെല്ലുവായി ആണ്. മലയാളഭൂമിക്ക് അദ്ദേഹം മുഖാന്തിരം ഒരു പരസ്യം കിട്ടുമെന്ന് സഹപത്രാധിപരായ കെ.വി.എസ്. നെല്ലുവായി അറിയിച്ചതു പ്രകാരമാണ് ഞാന്‍ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ നേരില്‍ പോയി കണ്ടത്. ഒരിക്കലേ ഞാന്‍ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്ടെ  ഫോര്‍ടിലെ ന്യൂ  എക്സല്‍സിയര്‍ സിനിമയുടെ മുന്നിലുള്ള ഒറ്റമുറി ഓഫീസില്‍  പോയിട്ടുള്ളൂ.  സഹായം തേടി ചെല്ലുന്ന വ്യക്തി ആരായാലും, ആഗതന്‍ തന്ടെ  സഹായം തേടിയാണല്ലോ  വന്നിരിക്കുന്നത്  അപ്പോള്‍ തന്ടെ  ജോലിത്തിരക്ക് ഒഴിയുന്നതു വരെ അയാള്‍ കാത്തിരിക്കട്ടെ എന്ന് ചിന്തിച്ചു ചിലര്‍ സ്വയം വലിയവനായി ഭാവിക്കാറുണ്ട്. എന്നാല്‍ തിരക്കിന്നിടയിലും കോട്ടോറാന്‍ പോക്കര്‍ എന്നെ സ്വീകരിച്ചു. പിന്നെ ക്ഷമാപണത്തോടെ, സ്റ്റെനോഗ്രഫര്‍ക്ക്  പറഞ്ഞുകൊടുക്കുന്നത്  മുഴുമിപ്പിച്ചിട്ട് നമുക്ക് സംസാരിക്കാമെന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.

ഏറിയാല്‍ മൂന്നോ നാലോ മിനിട്ട് എടുത്തു കാണും. പിനീട് അദ്ദേഹം എന്നെ അടുത്തു വിളിച്ചിരുത്തി സംസാരിച്ചു. വളരെ മാന്യവും സ്നേഹമസൃണവുമായ  പെരുമാറ്റം,   ഒറ്റ കാഴ്ചയില്‍ തന്നെ അദ്ദേഹത്തോടും അദ്ദേഹം ചെയ്യുന്ന പ്രവൃത്തിയോടും എനിയ്ക്ക്  മതിപ്പ് തോന്നി. 

വഴിവാണിഭക്കാരുടെ എന്തു കാര്യത്തിനും അവര്‍ എപ്പോഴും സമീപിച്ചിരുന്നത് പോക്കറിനെയായിരുന്നു. അവരുടെ സുഖദു:ഖങ്ങളില്‍ അദ്ദേഹം പങ്കുകൊണ്ടു. അവര്‍ക്ക് സഹായഹസ്തം നീട്ടാന്‍, ആശ്വാസം പകരാന്‍, സാന്ത്വനിപ്പിക്കാന്‍  അദ്ദേഹം സദാ സന്നദ്ധനായിരുന്നു.   അവരില്‍ ഒരാളായ അദ്ദേഹം അതുകൊണ്ട് തന്നെ മറ്റു തൊഴിലാളി നേതാക്കളില്‍ നിന്ന് വ്യത്യസ്തനായിരുന്നു.

എവിടെ വഴിവാണിഭം ചെയ്യാം, എവിടെ വഴിവാണിഭം ചെയ്തുകൂടാ എന്നീ  കാര്യങ്ങളില്‍   മുംബൈ മുനിസിപ്പല്‍ കോര്‍പറേഷനെ കൊണ്ടു നിര്‍ണായകമായ തീരുമാനം എടുപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനും അതിനുള്ള അതിര്‍ത്തികള്‍ തിരിക്കുന്നതിനും  കോട്ടോറാന്‍ പോക്കര്‍ വഹിച്ച  പങ്ക്‌ വളരെ വലുതാണ്‌. /  വഴിവാണിഭക്കാരുടെ ജീവിതനിലവാരം മെച്ചപ്പെടുത്താനും അധികാരികളില്‍ നിന്ന് അവര്‍ക്കെതിരെയുള്ള  ചൂഷണങ്ങള്‍ തടയാനും  അവരുടെ  വ്യക്തിജീവിതങ്ങളെ തൊട്ടറിയാനും അവരില്‍ നിര്‍ണായക സ്വാധീനം ചെലുത്താനും  59 വയസ്സില്‍ സെപ്റ്റംബര്‍ 28 -നു നമ്മളെ വിട്ടു പോയ പാനൂര്‍ വള്ളങ്ങാട്ടു കോട്ടോറാന്‍ പോക്കര്‍ എന്ന സാധാരണക്കാരനായ അസാധാരണ വ്യക്തിത്വത്തിന്നുടമയായ മനുഷ്യസ്നേഹിക്കു കഴിഞ്ഞു. ജി.ആര്‍. ഖൈര്‍നാര്‍ മുംബൈ മുനിസിപ്പല്‍ ഡെപ്യൂടി കമ്മിഷണര്‍ ആയിരുന്നപ്പോള്‍ വഴിവാണിഭക്കര്‍ക്കെതിരെ അദ്ദേഹം ശക്തമായ നടപടികള്‍ എടുത്തപ്പോള്‍  വഴിവാണിഭക്കാരുടെ അവകാശസംരക്ഷണത്തിന്നായി  മുന്നണി പോരാളിയായി നിന്ന് കോട്ടോറാന്‍ പോക്കര്‍ ശക്തമായി പോരാടി.  വഴിവാണിഭക്കാരുടെ ആവശ്യങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് നേരെ  കേന്ദ്രസര്‍ക്കാരിനെക്കൊണ്ട് അനുകൂലമായ തീരുമാനമെടുക്കാനും ഗുണകരമായ നയസമീപനങ്ങള്‍ കൈക്കൊള്ളാനും വേണ്ടി  നിര്‍ണായകമായ സ്വാധീനം ചെലുത്താന്‍ മുംബൈ  ഹാക്കെര്സ് അസോസിയേഷനും സര്‍വജനസമ്മതനായ   അതിന്ടെ സെക്രട്ടറി കോട്ടോറാന്‍ പോക്കര്‍ക്കും കഴിഞ്ഞു. 

കുറെ നാള്‍ മുന്‍പ് പക്ഷാഘാതത്താല്‍   ഒരു വശം തളര്‍ന്ന അദ്ദേഹം  ചികിത്സയിലായിരുന്നു. ഒരാഴ്ച മുന്‍പാണ് നാട്ടിലേക്കു പോയത്. ഭാര്യ ഷമീമ. നാലു മക്കളുണ്ട്.  മകന്‍ ഷംനാസ് മുംബൈയിലാണ് . മറ്റു മക്കള്‍ ജബീര്‍, ജന്‍സീര്‍, റിഷാന. 

നിസ്തുലമായ തൊഴിലാളി പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ കൊണ്ടു വഴിവാണിഭക്കാരുടെയും മാധ്യമങ്ങളുടെയും അധികാരികളുടെയും പ്രശംസക്ക് പാത്രമായ കോട്ടോറാന്‍ പോക്കര്‍ തന്ടെ  കാല്‍പ്പാടുകള്‍ മുംബൈ മഹാനഗരിയുടെ ചരിത്രത്തില്‍ അടയാളപ്പെടുത്തിക്കൊണ്ടാണ്   കാലയവനികക്കുള്ളില്‍  മറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നത്.

മലയാളം ഫൌണ്ടേഷന്‍ 2011 -ലെ പുരസ്കാരങ്ങള്‍ പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു 

സമഗ്രസംഭാവനക്ക് നാണപ്പന്‍ മഞ്ഞപ്രക്കും ഗിരിജാവല്ലഭനും  പുരസ്കാരങ്ങള്‍  

 മുംബൈ ആസ്ഥാനമായി പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്ന മലയാളം ഫൌണ്ടേഷന്‍ 2011-ലെ പുരസ്കാരങ്ങള്‍ പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു. 

പൊതുപ്രവര്‍ത്തനം, സംഘടനാപ്രവര്‍ത്തനം, ചെറുകഥ  എന്നീ രംഗങ്ങളിലെ സമഗ്രസംഭാവനക്ക്  ഗിരിജാവല്ലഭനും  കവിത  കലാസാഹിത്യനാടക മാധ്യമ  രംഗങ്ങളിലെ സമഗ്രസംഭാവനക്ക്  നാണപ്പന്‍ മഞ്ഞപ്രക്കുമാണ് പുരസ്കാരങ്ങള്‍.  പത്രപ്രവര്‍ത്തനത്തിന്നു  കാട്ടൂര്‍ മുരളിക്കും, പുസ്തകപ്രസാധനത്തിന്നു മുണ്ടൂര്‍ രാജനും, ചെറിയ  പ്രസിദ്ധീകരണം വഴിയുള്ള  മാധ്യമപ്രവര്തനത്തിനു നവകം പത്രാധിപര്‍ സി.എസ്.  പണിക്കര്‍ക്കുമാണ്  പുരസ്കാരങ്ങള്‍. പ്രശസ്തിപത്രവും ഫലകവും  അടങ്ങുന്നതാണ് പുരസ്കാരങ്ങള്‍. എന്‍. രാജശേഖരന്‍നായര്‍ അധ്യക്ഷനും  ഡോക്ടര്‍ ജോസഫ്‌ മാത്യു, മലയാളഭൂമി ശശിധരന്‍നായര്‍   എന്നിവര്‍ അംഗങ്ങളുമായ സമിതിയാണ് പുരസ്കാര നിര്‍ണയം നടത്തിയത്. 

കവി, ഗാനരചയിതാവ്, നടന്‍, നാടകപ്രവര്‍ത്തകന്‍, പത്രപ്രവര്‍ത്തകന്‍, പംക്തിഎഴുത്തുകാരന്‍,    സംഘാടകന്‍, സഹൃദയന്‍ എന്നീ നിലകളില്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞ നാലു പതിറ്റാണ്ടിലേറെക്കാലം മുംബൈയുടെ   കലാസാംസ്കാരികരംഗത്തു നിറസാന്നിദ്ധ്യമായ നാണപ്പന്‍ മഞ്ഞപ്ര ഗ്രാമരത്നം, മലയാളഭൂമി, അക്ഷയപ്രപഞ്ചം, മറുനാട് എക്സ്പ്രസ്സ്‌ എന്നിവയില്‍ സഹപത്രാധിപര്‍, മുഖ്യപത്രാധിപര്‍ എന്നീ നിലകളില്‍ ജോലിചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഇപ്പോള്‍  വൈറ്റ് ലൈന്‍   വാര്‍ത്ത‍യില്‍  സഹപത്രാധിപരായി  ജോലിചെയ്യുന്നു.  കൈരളി ടിവിയില്‍ എല്ലാ ഞായറാഴ്ചയും  സംപ്രേക്ഷണം ചെയ്യുന്ന  അംചി മുംബൈ  എന്ന പരിപാടിയുടെ ശീര്‍ഷകഗാനം രചിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത് നാണപ്പന്‍ മഞ്ഞപ്രയാണ്.

ഗിരിജാവല്ലഭന്‍ സാഹിത്യരംഗത്തിനു പുറമേ  പൊതുരംഗത്തും സംഘടനാരംഗത്തും മികവു തെളിയിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. കേന്ദ്രസര്‍ക്കാര്‍ ജീവനക്കാരുടെ മുതിര്‍ന്ന അനിഷേദ്ധ്യനേതാവായി   നാലു പതിറ്റാണ്ടിലേറെക്കാലമായി  പ്ര വര്‍ത്തിച്ചു വരികയാണ്‌. ഇന്ത്യന്‍  സിവില്‍ അക്കൗണ്ട്‌സ് സര്‍വീസ് ചരിത്രത്തില്‍ ആദ്യമായി  ധര്‍ണയ്ക്ക് നേതൃത്വം  നല്‍കി ഇന്ത്യയില്‍  ആദ്യമായി സിവില്‍  അക്കൗണ്ട്‌സ്   ജീവനക്കാര്‍ക്കായി ഗിരിജാവല്ലഭന്‍ സംഘടന  സ്ഥാപിച്ചു.  കഥാകൃത്ത്‌, നോവലിസ്റ്റ്‌, കോളംഎഴുത്തുകാരന്‍, സംഘാടകന്‍, തൊഴിലാളി  നേതാവ്  എന്നീ രംഗങ്ങളില്‍ പ്രാഗത്ഭ്യം തെളിയിച്ച ഗിരിജാവല്ല ഭനു പൊതുപ്രവര്‍ത്തനം, സംഘടനാപ്രവര്‍ത്തനം  സാഹിത്യം എന്നീ മേഖലകളിലെ   മികവിന്നാണ്      സമഗ്രസംഭാവക്കുള്ള പുരസ്‌കാരം   നല്‍കുന്നത്. ഒരു നോവലും  ഒരു കഥാസമാഹാരവും പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. മലയാളത്തിലും ഇംഗ്ലീഷിലും അനവധി ലേഖനങ്ങളും മലയാളത്തില്‍ ഇരുന്നൂറിലധികം കഥകളും  പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.      അഖിലേന്ത്യതലത്തില്‍ ബ്രാഞ്ച്  സെക്രട്ടറി, ജോയിന്റ്   സെക്രട്ടറി  ജനറല്‍, അഡിഷനല്‍  സെക്രട്ടറി ജനറല്‍, പ്രസിഡന്റ്‌  എന്നീ നിലകളില്‍ മൂന്നു  പതിറ്റാണ്ടിലേറെക്കാലം കേന്ദ്ര ജീവനക്കാരുടെ വിവിധ സംഘടനകളില്‍  പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. കൂടാതെ കോണ്‍ഫെഡറേഷന്‍ ഓഫ് സെന്‍ട്രല്‍ ഗവണ്മെന്റ്  എമ്പ്ലോയീസിനടെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങളുടെ സംഘാടകനും പ്രവര്‍ത്തകനുമായി   ഒരു വ്യാഴവട്ടക്കാലം പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.  

മുംബൈയില്‍ ജനിച്ചു മലയാളം പഠിച്ചു മറുനാട്ടിലെ  മലയാള പത്രപ്രവര്‍ത്തന രംഗത്ത് സജീവമായും വിജയകരമായും പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്ന  ഏക മലയാളിയാണ്  കാട്ടൂര്‍ മുരളി.  മുംബൈ മഹാനഗരിയുടെ മുക്കും മൂലയും രഹസ്യങ്ങളും അധോലോകബന്ധങ്ങളും  പരിചയസമ്പന്നനായ ഈ പത്രപ്രവര്‍തകന്നു നന്നായി അറിയാം. മലയാളവും ഇംഗ്ലീഷും  മറാഠിയും ഹിന്ദിയും അറിയാവുന്ന ഇദ്ദേഹം ഹാജി മസ്താന്‍, ബോംബെ രവി  തുടങ്ങി പലരേയും അഭിമുഖം നടത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട് .   

മറുനാട്ടില്‍  പുസ്തകപ്രസാധനം നടത്തി വിജയിച്ച എഴുത്തുകാരനല്ലാത്ത   ഏക മലയാളിയാണ്    മുണ്ടൂര്‍ രാജന്‍.    മുംബൈ കേന്ദ്രമാക്കി പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്ന   മുണ്ടൂര്‍ രാജന്ടെ  പാമ്പുങ്ങല്‍ പബ്ലിഷിംഗ്   എണ്‍പതിലേറെ  മലയാളപുസ്തകങ്ങള്‍ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. അവയില്‍ പലതും ശ്രദ്ധേയങ്ങളും ചിലത്   പുരസ്കാരങ്ങള്‍ നേടിയവയുമാണ്.  മുണ്ടൂര്‍ രാജന്‍  പ്രസാധനരംഗത്തെ വേറിട്ട വ്യക്തിയും ഒറ്റയാള്‍ പട്ടാളവുമാണ്.   

നവകം പത്രാധിപര്‍ സി.എസ്. പണിക്കര്‍ ചെറിയ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരണം വഴി  മാധ്യമപ്രവര്‍ത്തനം നിര്‍വഹിക്കുന്ന  വ്യത്യസ്തനായ വ്യക്തിയാണ്. വെല്ലുവിളികളേയും പ്രയാസങ്ങളേയും  അതിജീവിച്ചു  കഴിഞ്ഞ 22 വര്‍ഷമായി മുടങ്ങാതെ അദ്ദേഹം നവകം മാസിക മലപ്പുറത്തെ അയങ്കലത്ത്  നിന്ന് പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചു വരുന്നു. 

നേരത്തെ പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ച   സിനിമക്കുള്ള പുരസ്കാരം നേടിയത് അരവിന്ദന്‍ നെല്ലുവായിയാണ്. ഇന്നലയെതേടി എന്ന കുട്ടികളുടെ സിനിമയിലൂടെ അരവിന്ദന്‍ നെല്ലുവായി  സ്വതന്ത്ര സംവിധായകനായി മാറി.  കന്നിച്ചിത്രത്തിലൂടെ പ്രേക്ഷകരുടെ പ്രശംസ നേടിയ  അരവിന്ദന്‍   സിനിമാരംഗത്ത്‌ പത്തു വര്‍ഷത്തിലേറെയായി  പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നു. 

വേറിട്ട വഴികളിലൂടെ സഞ്ചരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു  പ്രവര്‍ത്തനവിജയം കൈവരിച്ച പ്രഗത്ഭര്‍ക്കാണ് മലയാളം ഫൌണ്ടേഷന്‍ വിവിധ മേഖലകളില്‍ പുരസ്കാരം നല്‍കുന്നതെന്ന്   അവാര്‍ഡ്‌ കമ്മിറ്റി ചെയര്‍മാന്‍ എന്‍. രാജശേഖരന്‍ നായര്‍  പ്രസ്താവിച്ചു.    ഓഗസ്റ്റ്‌ 19 -നു തൃശൂരെ സാഹിത്യഅക്കാദമി ഹാളില്‍ വെച്ച്  നടക്കുന്ന സാംസ്കാരികസമ്മേളനത്തില്‍ പ്രൌഡഗംഭീരമായ  സദസ്സിനെ സാക്ഷിനിറുത്തി  ജേതാക്കള്‍ക്ക്  പുരസ്കാരങ്ങള്‍ സമര്‍പ്പിക്കുന്നതാണ്. 

Malayalam Foundation Awards 2011 Declared

Malayalam Foundation, a NGO based in Mumbai, has announced the awards for the year 2011.  Out of six awards, two are for overall contributions in multiple domains and remaining for the outstanding contributions in the respective fields.

Malayalam poet, activist and media personality Nanappan Manjapra has been selected for the award recognizing his overall contributions in the fields of poetry, dramatics and media. Noted Malayalam writer Girijavallabhan of Mumbai has been selected for the award recognizing his overall contributions in the fields of literature, social service and trade union.  Kattoor Murali has been chosen for the award in journalism, Mundoor Rajan of Pambungal Publications for Malayalam book publishing outside Kerala and Navakam Editor C.S.Panicker for media activism through small publication from Ayankalam in Malappuram District. Malayalam Foundation Award consists of cash and memento. The awardees were selected considering their past contributions by the Committee with N. Rajashekharahn Nair as Chairman, Dr. Thomas Mathew, Cheppad Somanathan and Malayalabhumi Sasidharan Nair as members.

Nanappan Manjapra has been actively involved in the Malayalam arts and culture scene in Mumbai for the last four decades as poet, lyricist, dramatist and media person. He was the sub editor of periodicals like Gramaratnam, Malayalabhumi, Akshaya Prapanjam and Marunadu Express. Presently he is the sub editor of Whiteline Vartha. He has penned the title song of “Amchi Mumbai” programme being telecast on Kairali TV every Sunday.

Apart from a noted Malayalam novelist and short story writer, Girijavallabhan has been an active social worker and trade unionist for last four decades. He has made sizeable contributions for the central Govt. Employees movement in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra. He was actively connected with the Confederation of Central Govt. Employees and Workers for a long time. He organized the civil accounts employees and officers’ throughout the country and founded first ever trade union for them. He has held national level posts in these organizations as Joint Secretary General, Additional Secretary General and President for more than three decades. He has authored an award winning novel and two short story collections in Malayalam. Girijavallabhan with proven ability as novelist, storywriter, columnist, social worker and trade unionist has been selected for the award for his overall contributions in the field of literature, social service and trade union.

The award for films has already been announced earlier. Aravindan Nelluvayi has bagged the award for his debut directorial venture of “Innalaye Thedi”, Malayalam film.  Aravindan has several years of experience in cine-field in different roles. He was associated with veteran writer and director Lohithadas as production executive.

The achievements of Kattoor Murali, the winner of award for journalism, are unique as he is the only Malayalam journalist who was born and brought up outside Kerala and became a successful journalist in Mumbai. He is well versed with each and every nook and corner of Mumbai. His interviews of Haji Mastan and Mumbai Ravi were foremost in Malayalam and big hits in the media in those days.

Mundoor Rajan is a one-man army in the Malayalam publishing industry of Mumbai. He is the only successful Malayalam publisher outside Kerala, who has been in the field of books for last 17 years. His Pambungal Publications has published 82 books. They had been well accepted by the readers and some of the books have won awards.

Navakam is small scale Malayalam magazine published from Ayankalam in Malappuram District.  C.S.Panicker is a different type of publisher and editor. In spite of all odds and hurdles, he has been publishing this magazine for last 22 years and budding writers and poets as well as the established writers and poets are lined up in Navakam pages with equal importance. It is a remarkable fact that he never skipped a single issue of Navakam.

“It’s Malayalam Foundation’s earnest intention to appreciate and recognise hitherto unrecognised Malayali people from different fields in a humble and noble way,” told Sasidharan Nair, Director of Malayalam Foundation.

N. Rajasekharan Nair, Chairman of the Award Committee stated that the Malayalam Foundation has selected the awardees who have made remarkable achievements in their fields with dedicated work. These awards will be conferred on the winners in a grand public function scheduled to be held on 19^th August at Sahitya Akademy Hall, Thrissur in the presence of eminent scholars, writers, poets, journalists and luminaries from film, television and theatre fields.

Malayalam Foundation Cinema Award announced

Mumbai: Mumbai based national NGO Malayalam Foundation’s 2011 cinema award has been won by Aravindan Nelluvai. The NGO started in 2011 working with the main objectives to promote Malayalam language, literature, culture, tradition, education, environment protection and health awareness and connect Malayalis across the world for the overall welfare and benefits of people.

Aravindan Nelluvai was selected as the best director of the children’s film in Malayalam Innalaye Thedi for his debut venture as director. Aravindan has several years of experience in cine-field in different roles. He was associated with veteran writer and director Lohithadas as production executive.

It is a story of an educated and ex-army nomad who in his journey got attached with children. The nomad and 11 children take forth the story written by the director Aravindan himself. Multifaceted veteran actor T.G. Ravi played the lead role in the film together with 11 talented child artistes and experienced artists from Malayalam theatre and film field. The film has been shot in digital format in the outskirts of Thrissur and Vatanapally.

The theme of the story elicits the journey portraying the goodness and an attempt to regain the values missed somewhere in the fast phase of urbanisation and the booming trend of nuclear family concept. The movie beautifully unveils the changes in the rural and urban society in a folk-story telling method aesthetically blended with myths and beauty.
